AOI has been appointed to a seat on the Oregon Law Commission's Uniform Environmental Covenants Act Workgroup. The workgroup is tasked with developing and recommending statutory changes to speed up the cleanup and re-use of contaminated lands using agreements called Environmental Covenants. Such agreements between the DEQ and the buyer of contaminated land can enable the development of what would be otherwise unusable land, often in central urban or suburban settlings key to economic revitalization.

AOI's John Ledger, who previously headed state cleanup and hazardous waste programs in Idaho under then-Governor Cecil Andrus, will join the workgroup this month.

The Oregon Law Commission is housed at Willamette University and exists to "produce the best feasible improvement in state laws." The commission is chaired by Mr. Lane Shetterly, formerly a state representative and the Director of the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development.
